The Agona Swedru District Police Command has destroyed 10 suspected drug ghettos and arrested four individuals in a significant operation within the Agona West Municipality of the Central Region.
This initiative, known as Operation Burn All Ghettos, was spearheaded by District Police Commander ASP Vida Yenkey along with District Crime Officer ASP Erica Naab.
The operation aims to combat drug abuse and related criminal activities among the youth.
ASP Yenkey confirmed that the four suspects, three men and one woman, are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
She has called upon stakeholders, traditional leaders, and community influencers in Agona Swedru to collaborate with the police in tackling drug operations within the municipality.
“The police remain committed to fighting illicit drug use and crime, but interference from certain local leaders continues to be a challenge,” ASP Yenkey said in an interview.
The police guarantee residents that they will continue their operations to enhance safety and security in the region.
